Although Emergency contraception or plan B is world’s most famous birth control method used by women. But there are a lot of disadvantages of morning after pill. Check all of them and then decide to take or not.
- Safety Shield: This is the major concern for all the contraception options available in the market. But same problem is here. No safety shield against HIV and STIs in case of plan B and ECPs pills also. Even worst thing is that many persons are having intercourses with many partners without condoms and taking plan B.
- Risk of Heart Attack: Although it is rare case but ECPs increase the risk of heart attack.
- Liver Problems: You could be the patient of liver problem. A study shows that ECPs have a bad effect on the liver also.
- High Blood Pressure: Symptoms of high blood pressure is another concern in case of plan B.
- ECPs should only be used in the case of an emergency and should not be used as your regular contraceptive. However, if you do use ECPs several times, they are not dangerous. It is also known to sometimes cause birth defects during pregnancy.
- Some women also experience breast tenderness, headaches, dizziness, and irregular bleeding. Nausea may be alleviated by taking a Dramamine pill one hour before each dose of emergency contraceptive pills.
- If you use the morning after pill frequently, it may cause your period to be irregular.
- Headache, breast tenderness and abdominal pain are some common problems which make you little uncomfortable also.
